2017: A Year in Photographic Review
It was challenging to choose just a few favorite images to represent all of the dynamic and successful community events and programming we experienced in 2017! The photos below represent best our unique and thriving community in the #artmuseumarea.
In May, the Fairmount Avenue Arts Crawl brought together local artisan vendors, performers, and neighbors, to mingle and celebrate the arts in the beautiful spring weather.
In July, Fairmount CDC and Urban Consulate gathered with residents, business owners, and developers at Block Talk, where we discussed the balance between preservation and development at The Monkey & the Elephant Cafe.
In August, at the I Heart Fairmount event, we spent a Saturday assembling and distributing planters along Fairmount Avenue with Keep Philadelphia Beautiful, Goose Island, Fairmount Hardware, and a group of amazing volunteers.
In October, with the office of State Representative Donna Bullock, we celebrated the spirit of Brewerytown with Girard Ave Street Fest. Later that month, our board members celebrated Halloween with children and families from the neighborhood in the courtyard of Eastern State Penitentiary.
In November, the Fairmount Food Fight celebrated its 15th year at Girard College. Twenty-five area restaurants came to support the FCDC while sharing their culinary creations with hundreds of guests. It was a celebratory and successful evening.
While our capacity for planning at the Fairmount CDC makes community engagement such as this possible, the participation of our neighbors and allies is what ultimately makes these events memorable! Thanks for all you do for the neighborhood, and we'll see you for more neighborhood gatherings in 2018.
